The Doulton Stater patent was made from 1880s to 1890s by John Slater at the Doulton Burslem and Lambeth factories. This one is from Lambeth. The detail on the base used a technique in which lace or other textures were pressed onto the wet clay to create a tapestry effect. The spout is then highly glazed as a contrast. Most of these items were made between 1885 and 1920. The handwritten number is likely a pattern or shape number used internally by the factory. Marked Doulton Lambeth with the words Slater Patent and a stamp. Handwritten number x 2955. Size 9 x 15cm.
