Sheffield & England toast rack with the number W12697. It also has a monogram on the front with intertwining letters C and R. These are usually the monogram of King Charles, C for Charles and R for Rex (meaning King). However, this is possibly the maker's mark or the household the mark was made for. It is an excellent example of heavy Victorian silverware from around the 1890s. The company Mappin & Webb Ltd. was founded in 1889. They have been designing silverware for the royal family since Victorian times and continue as Crown Jewellers to this day. Who doesn't love a fancy toast rack? 14 x 9,5 cm.
