This very large piece (26 cm high) has an interesting history in that it has the mark of Price Bros (Made in England) and yet is stamped Made in York. The pottery manufacturing companies of Price Bros. (Burslem) Ltd and Kensington Pottery Ltd were both subsidiaries of Arthur Wood & Son. In 1962, they were amalgamated to make one company: Price & Kensington Potteries Ltd., which operated from Longport, Stoke-On-Trent, 3 hours on the motorway from York. And yet it is possible that the moulds were made in York, transported to Stoke-on-Trent, hand-painted and fired. This pitcher has lovely, secure handles, top and bottom, opposite each other, and was made before 1963 when the marks were changed. The small apple shows the massive size. 19 x 12.5 x 26 cm.
